Els is a relative newcomer to triathlon. But like everything Els does, Els does triathlon extremely well. While traveling in Indonesia in 2014, her boat sank in the middle of the ocean. Clinging for life, Els made a desperate swim to a far-off island. 8 long hours later, she emerged from the water and was eventually rescued. From that harrowing experience, Els vowed to live life to the absolute fullest.Today, Els enjoys a very busy schedule. She lives and trains in Saint Moritz, Switzerland and races often. Since turning professional back in 2017, Els has won several 70.3 and 140.6 races. In her first Kona appearance back in 2017, she placed a very respectable 16th. In addition to her amazing accomplishments in triathlon, Els is also a Doctor of Surgery and an active public speaker. “The impossible is often the untried,” she says. With Els, anything is possible.
